Lately I have just not been excited about my wardrobe. To try and fix this I decided to give stitch fix a try. I had heard about this company a while ago and been waiting for the perfect time to give it a try.
I want to start by saying this isn’t sponsored by Stitch Fix or anything, I was curious and thought I would give it a try and share my experience. To start the box came on a Saturday when I hadn’t left my house. I was in bed around 11pm and realized I had ordered a text book that was supposed to come that day so I got out of bed and went to check for my text book. While I didn’t find my text book I did find my stitch fix box which had come a day early. I tore into it barely remembering to take pictures. I gave the clothes a quick glance before going to bed and deciding to try everything on in the morning.
If you don’t know what stitch fix is is the company where you fill out a quiz describing your style and life or fashion needs and a stylist translates it into 5 pieces curated just for you. They charge your $20 to curate your box and then you can put that money towards anything you decide to purchase from the box. Another perk is that for your first box if you don’t keep anything they give you your money back. on subsequent boxes though you don’t get your $20 back. With each box you have a chance to update your stylist on what you liked and didn’t like so they can send you the best possible options for you. Each box comes with your 5 items, a bag to send the returns back in, and style cards with suggestions on how to wear the items you received.
I received a pair of shoes in a cute bag, a marroon colored jacket, a pair of jeans, and two tops which I will show and discuss below.
First up the shoes:
They were a very fall color but the shoe was very round and bulky which isn’t my style. I also wasn’t sure that I would be able to get the shoes to be broken in and comfortable anytime soon. My feet tend to be sensitive to new shoes. So I decided to send them back. They were nice I just wasn’t sure they were for me.
Next was the Jacket:
This jacket was really cute but I already have a utility jacket so I didn’t feel the need to spend money on a second. Also This one felt really thick like it was lined more than my other one which I wasn’t super excited about because I like that mine is light enough that I can wear it even now went its cool in the morning but warm in the afternoon.
Next the Jeans:
These jeans were really comfortable, They were stretchy and I felt like I could move in them. However I like my jeans to be tight. I don’t like when they get bunchy around my shins and these did. If I liked the jeans looser they would have been perfect but I want then tight so they don’t get in the way of my boots.
Next the Sleeveless top:
This shirt was nice but the front was stretchy while the back wasn’t and I felt like if I moved it would haved moved and revealed more skin then I would have wanted. This shirt was also tight over my collar bones which I didn’t love. So while the rest of the top was okay I decided it wasn’t worth keeping.
Finally the sweater:
I really liked this shirt. The back had a gorgeous print. At first it was fold in a way that I thought it was a dress and I was so excited. But it turned out to be the back of a black sweater. I really liked it but when I was trying it on I noticed that I could see my bra through the front of the shirt. I tried multiple bras but it was a lost cause. As amazing as the top was I couldn’t see myself wearing it so I sent it back.
While I didn’t keep anything from this box I was able to leave comments about the items I had gotten so that next time the pieces would be even more to my taste. I have my next box scheduled to be delivered in November. I can’t wait to see what it brings. Hopefully it will be great and I will be able to keep some or maybe all the items. I will let you know when I get it.
Let me know your thoughts on the pieces or if you’ve ordered from stitch fix!
